Tai Chi Series
Taichi emphases on the wholeness/unity (整體性), the flow of weight (重量之流動感), and co-existence of softness and hardness (剛柔同體).
"I believed that were what I wanted to express if I would tell something about Tai Chi with my sculptures, instead of some beautiful Tai Chi postures."
“However, I was not able to express those feelings and intrinsic values through my figurative sculptures. So I was waiting…. Luckily, I had a breakthrough in abstract form in 2009. By using the dancing curves of a triangular form and its beautiful twisting and intersecting effects, I can now express the flow, the energy, the fluidity, the hardness and softness, the rhythm, the withholding and striking...etc of the world of Tai Chi. It is not what one can see in the appearance of Tai Chi postures. It all happens inside the body.” Keyee said.
Tai Chi is characterized by its softness on the outside but the strength inside. Like the basic fundamental of Tai Chi, outward appearance poses a soft stride, but deep inside the interior strength is unbeatable. Keyee is aptly using the triangular pyramid as the flesh of the basic structure to create a sculpture with an elegant and refined appearance, as an echo to the softness versus strength of the Tai Chi Spirit.
